HowTo participate in the test

A core team of testers is preparing the general suite of large scale integration tests. They and other developers from the working groups will run them. TDAQ members are very welcome to participate and help.

If you have suggestion for a particular aspect to be tested within the general tests then please send us an  email  or  talk to us.

If you want to perform component or sub-system specific tests,  please read the description :Operation and Approach, contact us if you have questions  and send an  email  with the  description of the tests you want to perform answering the following questions:

1. what is the purpose of the tests, which aspect of the system is investigated, what are the objectives (description of the test)?
2. why can these tests only be done on a very large scale, what are the challenges and/or expected results?
3. who will prepare the tests, who will participate in the test preparation (be the contact person, participate in meetings),  run the tests and make the results available as part of the test report?
4. will the tests have been tested and run on a medium scale on one of the available farms before?
5. can the tests be automated? Can they run autonomously, i.e. over night or during parts of the week-end?
6. do the tests require exclusive access to the farm or can they run in 'shared' mode?
7. how many nodes and how much testing time do they require a) in shared mode b) in exclusive mode?
8. are there any specific requirements on system parameters or any constraints?

We will discuss the list of suggested test  in TDAQ and try to allocate testing time for all of them if possible. However, this probably means a relatively strict schedule on one hand and requires flexibility from the testers (stand-by mode) on the other hand  to make maximum use of the farm and testing time.
